SERB Pharmaceuticals Acquires European and MENA Rights to Idefirix
SERB Pharmaceuticals has finalized its acquisition of development and commercialization rights to Idefirix (imlifidase) across Europe and MENA.
SERB Pharmaceuticals has completed its acquisition of the European and Middle East and North Africa (MENA) development and commercialization rights to Idefirix (imlifidase) from Hansa Biopharma, the company announced. The deal marks a significant expansion of SERB's specialty pharmaceutical portfolio into a niche but critical area of transplant medicine.
Idefirix, known generically as imlifidase, is an enzyme-based therapy designed to enable kidney transplantation in highly sensitized patients — individuals whose immune systems have developed antibodies that make it extremely difficult to find a compatible donor organ. The drug represents a meaningful clinical option for a population that would otherwise face lengthy waits or no viable transplant path.

By securing commercialization rights across two major regions, SERB positions itself to drive broader patient access to the therapy while taking on responsibility for ongoing development efforts. The transaction reflects a broader industry trend of larger specialty pharma companies acquiring targeted assets from biotech developers to accelerate market penetration and revenue diversification.
Hansa Biopharma, the Swedish biotech that developed imlifidase, retains rights outside the agreed territories, allowing it to pursue its own commercialization strategies in other global markets. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed in the announcement.
