Fidelity Flags Solana Strengths and Risks in New Report
Fidelity praises Solana's two-year outage-free run but warns that stake, hosting, and client concentration warrant close monitoring.
Fidelity released a report on Solana this week, acknowledging the blockchain network's notable operational resilience while flagging structural vulnerabilities that investors and developers should continue to watch. The asset management giant's analysis arrives as institutional interest in alternative layer-1 networks accelerates.
The most striking data point in Fidelity's assessment is that Solana has recorded zero mainnet outages over the past two years — a sharp turnaround for a network that was once notorious for repeated disruptions that rattled user confidence and drew sharp criticism from rivals.

Despite that progress, Fidelity cautioned that several concentration risks remain unresolved. Specifically, the firm highlighted the clustering of staked tokens among a relatively small group of validators, a reliance on a narrow set of hosting providers for network infrastructure, and limited diversity in the client software that validators run. Each of these factors could, in theory, amplify the impact of a technical failure or coordinated attack.
The report reflects a broader pattern of traditional financial institutions applying rigorous, bond-analyst-style scrutiny to crypto networks rather than treating them as monolithic speculative assets. Fidelity's nuanced take — crediting Solana's uptime record while demanding continued vigilance on decentralization metrics — signals that institutional due diligence in the space is maturing alongside the assets themselves.
