Evolution Petroleum is acquiring mineral and royalty interests in the core Midland Basin for roughly $16 million, with closing expected Aug. 21, 2026.
Evolution Petroleum Corporation (NYSE American: EPM) announced Monday it has signed a definitive agreement to purchase mineral and royalty interests in the core Midland Basin of the Permian Basin from a private, non-affiliated seller for approximately $16 million, with the deal set to close on or about August 21, 2026.
The Houston-based company said the acquisition carries an effective date of August 1, 2026, meaning cash flow and production economics tied to the assets will be attributed to Evolution from that date forward, subject to customary purchase price adjustments at closing.

The Midland Basin, situated in the eastern half of the broader Permian Basin in West Texas, is widely regarded as one of the most prolific and cost-efficient oil-producing regions in the United States. Mineral and royalty interests are particularly attractive to energy companies because they generate revenue from production without requiring the holder to bear drilling or operational costs.
The transaction represents a straightforward balance-sheet play for Evolution, allowing the company to grow its royalty income stream while limiting direct capital exposure to well operations. Royalty acquisitions of this type have gained momentum across the energy sector as producers seek predictable, low-overhead cash flows amid fluctuating commodity prices.
